Nokia to bring 4G, 3G mobile phones at lower prices

Nokia has indicated to lower prices of 4G and 3G mobile
phones in India to leverage operators' plans to launch high speed 4G
services and boost its market share in the country. "We want to
continue to push point lower and lower than anything we have today.
That's the statement for both 3G and LTE (4G) because that is the
thing which gives us scale of the ecosystem," Microsoft's Mobile Device
Sales, Corporate Vice President Chris Weber told PTI.

German finance minister Peer Steinbrueck said on Friday that Nokia's
decision to close a plant in Germany was an example of 'caravan
capitalism', and that the firm was risking its reputation.
"This is the expression of a caravan capitalism which
systematically undermines support for this economic and social system.
People are losing confidence and that is extremely dangerous and of
political importance,". A Nokia spokeswoman declined

Global majors are moving in fast as cellphone volumes are exploding.
Nokia, for instance, on Wednesday said it would set up a handset factory
with an investment of up to $150m over four years. "Volumes have
changed in India and this is the key reason behind setting up
manufacturing facility here. This will be Nokia's 10th facility all over
the world," said Pekka Ala-Pietila, president, Nokia. He added that it
makes sense to set up a manufacturing operation to take care of local

(WB): A Nokia mobile handset exploded while it was being charged at a
shop dealing in cellphones here today. The handset Nokia 1100 had a
BL-5C battery, a huge number of which manufactured by Matsuhita
Corporation were recalled by Nokia. The proprietor of the shop,
Ajit Prasad, said the set belonging to him exploded 10 minutes after he
put it on charge. Since he was a dealer of mobile phones, he said,
he had asked that his phone be changed, but was told that it was not
required.

WASHINGTON:
After signing a pact to sell its handset business to Microsoft ,
Finnish phone giant Nokia can neither license the 'Nokia' brand for
use in connection with mobile device sales nor use the brand on its own
mobile devices for a specific period. "Microsoft has also agreed
to a 10-year license arrangement with Nokia to use the Nokia brand on
current and subsequently developed Mobile Phones based on the Series 30

DELHI: In yet another major outsourcing deal, Sunil Mittal-owned Bharti
Group on Monday entered into a over Rs 580 crore deal with telecom
major Nokia to expand the network in eight circles. "As per
the contract, Nokia will provide managed services and expand Bharti's
Airtel networks in the circles of Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar
(including Jharkhand) and Orissa for a period of three years," a

A major fire broke out on Thursday in the paint unit of mobile
phone major Nokia at Sriperumpudur, about 40 kms from here, officials
said. "The fire started from the paint unit of Nokia
this morning and we are trying to douse it", Divisional Fire Officer
Parthiban said. However, there were no reports of
